BCIS’s talent lead appointment

by Simon Foulds

BCIS strengthens its digital construction strategy by appointing a talent lead to support expansion plans nationally.

The Building Cost Information Service (BCIS) has appointed Natalie Cross as talent lead, supporting growth plans as the organisation enters its 65th anniversary year. The move reflects BCIS’s focus on strengthening recruitment to underpin its transition toward a more technology-driven construction data business.

With 15 years’ experience, Cross brings expertise from leading recruitment teams at a major consultancy, alongside responsibility for managing recruitment programmes across Europe. Her appointment supports BCIS recruitment activity as demand increases for digital construction skills, construction data analytics expertise, and specialist roles linked to cost intelligence and the built environment.

Strategic talent investment for digital construction

BCIS chief executive Richard Linstead said investment in people is central to the organisation’s future direction. “As we look ahead to a year of significant transformation, investing in talent is one of the most important things we can do,” he said.

“We’re expanding the team to bring in the skills and perspectives needed for our shift toward a more technology-driven business. That means creating an environment where more great people want to work, where they feel supported to do their best and where they can contribute to building something meaningful for the sector.”

Linstead added: “Our aim is to continue modernising BCIS while holding on to the values that have made us a trusted industry partner for 65 years.”

Supporting technology-led growth at BCIS

Cross said the role offered the opportunity to combine established construction data expertise with innovation. “BCIS felt like the best of both worlds – a trusted, well-regarded name with the energy and opportunities of a start-up,” she said.

“I could see the chance to make a real mark and everyone I spoke to was genuinely passionate about giving the best possible experience to subscribers.”

Looking ahead to BCIS’s 65th anniversary in 2026, she added: “There’s a strong sense of the team’s long history of providing data-led insights to the built environment, but also excitement at what else is possible in the future.”

The appointment supports BCIS growth ambitions, reinforcing its commitment to data-led digital construction, cost intelligence, and attracting specialist talent to modernise services for the UK built environment.
