Championing progress and technology in the Built Environment

by Simon Foulds

A new, exciting chapter for the built environment is being written between UK Construction Week and UK Business Events regarding the prestigious Building Innovation Awards (BIA).

UK Construction Week (UKCW) in Birmingham is extending its partnership with UK Business Events (UKBE). For the first time, the Building Innovation Awards will be partnered by UK Construction Week Birmingham, with UKCW sponsoring the venue at the National Conference Centre, next door to the NEC, for this highly anticipated event.

Taking place on the first night of UKCW, this milestone is a testament to the shared vision of both organisations: championing progress and technology in the construction sector.

A natural alignment

UKBE’s unwavering passion for driving innovative ideas has paved the way for this exciting union. Over the past two years, UKBE has delivered outstanding content and thought leadership at UKCW through the Digital Construction Hub, a dedicated stage for discussing the latest in digital technology and smart construction.

The Digital Construction Hub has quickly become a highlight of the show, consistently drawing packed audiences eager to hear from top experts shaping the future of the built environment. With the same calibre of industry leaders, innovators, and decision-makers attending both the BIA and UKCW, this is a great partnership.

Joe Broun Managing Director of  UKBE, says: “Our businesses align perfectly. The speakers at our Digital Construction Hub stage and the audience at UKCW are the same. This partnership brings everything together in adjacent venues — innovating together, showcasing the best minds in construction, and celebrating achievement in the sector.”

Long-standing, evolving partnership

This collaboration builds on an already successful relationship between UK Construction Week Birmingham and UK Business Events, with UKBE having hosted the Digital Construction Hub Stage, with our ‘Build In Digital’ brand at four previous UKCW expos. With each event, the synergy between the two organisations has grown, and now, hosting the BIA on the first night at UKCW marks a bold step forward.

Celebrating the best

The BIA are renowned for recognising the businesses, projects, and people driving construction forward. Bringing this flagship event to UK Construction Week Birmingham, the UK’s largest construction event, provides the perfect platform to honour those leading the way in innovative technologies and ground-breaking building methods.

With the awards now at adjacent venues at the same time as the UK’s leading construction exhibition, attendees can experience first-hand how the built environment is transforming  — and celebrate the pioneers making it happen.

Looking ahead

As both UKBE and UKCW look to the future, this partnership signifies more than just shared dates; it represents a unified mission to advance the construction industry. Together, they are building a platform where experts, innovators, and forward-thinkers can connect, collaborate, and celebrate achievements that will shape the future of the built environment.

For attendees, exhibitors, and award nominees alike, UK Construction Week Birmingham 2025 promises to be the most exciting yet.
