The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) has announced the launch of a refreshed brand identity, marking a significant milestone in its 129-year history. The update represents a new phase in how the institution presents itself to the building services engineering and digital construction sectors, aligning its public identity with the changing demands of the built environment.
Developed through extensive member engagement, the refreshed brand introduces a clearer visual language and more focused messaging. It reflects CIBSE’s role in supporting professionals working across building services design, digital engineering, BIM-enabled construction, energy performance and climate-responsive buildings. As the construction industry responds to regulatory change, decarbonisation targets and digital transformation, the updated identity positions CIBSE to communicate its purpose with greater clarity.
Central to the refresh is a modernised visual identity that retains the recognisable CIBSE hawk, refined to suit contemporary digital platforms and global communications. Alongside this, CIBSE has prioritised clearer and more accessible communication, ensuring guidance, standards and professional resources are aligned with the needs of a diverse, digitally connected membership.
Strengthening international positioning
The refreshed brand also strengthens CIBSE’s international positioning. With building services engineering playing a growing role in global digital construction markets, the institution continues to expand its influence through international partnerships, knowledge sharing and professional standards. This global outlook is reinforced by a new strapline, Inspiring People. Transforming Places., reflecting CIBSE’s focus on professional development, technical leadership and the performance of the built environment.
Ruth Carter, Chief Executive of CIBSE, said: “CIBSE’s refreshed visual identity marks an important step in ensuring our brand reflects the modern, forward-thinking institution we are today. The updated logo, visual style and strapline make CIBSE more accessible and relevant, strengthening how we present ourselves to our international communities. This brand refresh has been shaped by member feedback and engagement, helping us ensure our identity reflects the evolving needs of the profession and the direction in which we are moving.”
The refreshed identity will be rolled out across CIBSE’s digital platforms, publications and communications, ensuring consistency across member services, industry guidance and external engagement.
