IES appoints new CEO

by BiD Admin

IES, the Glasgow-headquartered climate tech company recognised for advancing energy efficiency in some of the world’s most iconic buildings, has announced the appointment of Christine Mullin as its new Chief Executive Officer. The leadership transition marks a pivotal moment for the firm as it embarks on the next stage of international growth, with a renewed focus on decarbonising the built environment through digital innovation.

A strategic leadership transition at IES

Christine Mullin succeeds Dr Don McLean, who founded IES over three decades ago and has guided the business to its position in building performance simulation software and digital twin technology. Under McLean’s leadership, IES technology has been deployed in buildngs, from Heathrow Terminal 5 and MGM Las Vegas to San Francisco landmarks and the Dubai Opera House.

As McLean moves into his new role as non-executive director, Mullin will bring fresh energy and a proven track record in scaling international technology businesses to drive IES’s ambitious growth strategy.

Christine Mullin: a leader with global experience

Mullin joins IES with extensive senior leadership experience in the technology, SaaS, and B2B sectors. Her previous roles include senior positions at Microsoft UK, Dext, MetaPack, and Bookatable, where she led business scaling, acquisitions, and international expansion. Most recently, she served as Chief Operating Officer at Texthelp, a global provider of assistive software solutions.

She also brings specialist knowledge in emerging technologies, having completed the MIT AI and Machine Learning: Leading Business Growth programme, positioning her at the intersection of digital innovation, business strategy, and sustainability.

Speaking on her appointment, Mullin said: “IES has an exceptional reputation for innovation and impact, having enabled the energy-efficient design, retrofit and operation of some of the most well-known buildings and infrastructure projects in the world. With demand for intelligent climate tech solutions only growing globally, this is an important moment for the business. I’m honoured to build on Don’s remarkable legacy and lead IES into its next phase of growth.”
