Multinational construction firm Laing O’Rourke has renewed its strategic partnership with Robotics Australia Group for a further 12 months.
Georgina North, head of Technology and Innovation at Laing O’Rourke in Australia, said the partnership will help to further accelerate the technology readiness and commercialisation of robotics solutions in Australia.
She said: “Facilitating collaboration between robotics developers, industry, researchers, and government, the Robotics Australia Group plays a key role in the progression of robotics solutions from the lab to the field for testing and back for refinement.”
She added: “The federal government is developing a National Robotics Strategy to promote the responsible production and adoption of robotics and automation technologies.
“Working with Robotics Australia Group, we can ensure the construction sector is front and centre in this discussion.
“From a construction sector perspective, the use of robotics has the potential to increase productivity, deliver certainty for our clients, and improve safety for our people.”
Nicci Rossouw, CEO of Robotics Australia Group, said: “Laing O’Rourke has been a great supporter of our organisation since the beginning, and we’re honoured to partner with them for another year as our sponsors from the construction sector.”
She added: “We also thank Laing O’Rourke for being a major contributor in the current robotics sector policy discussions, and we look forward to working together to realise our market’s potential.”
Robotics Australia Group is an incorporated not-for-profit organisation set-up to act as “the voice for Robotics” in Australia.
