BNP Paribas Real Estate and Strutt & Parker have appointed new heads of research to lead their commercial, residential and rural teams.

Rebecca Shafran has been named head of commercial research at BNP Paribas Real Estate, while Jason Beedell becomes head of residential and rural research at Strutt & Parker. Both appointments took effect immediately.

The pair will lead their respective research teams, providing market intelligence, thought leadership and strategic advice to clients across the commercial, residential and rural sectors.

Shafran has over 20 years’ experience in real estate research and strategy. She joined BNP Paribas Real Estate in 2019 and has played a key role in growing the firm’s research capabilities across alternative sectors, including student accommodation, hotels, healthcare, care homes and retirement living.

Beedell has been with Strutt & Parker since 2016 and is regarded as one of the UK’s leading commentators on rural property, agriculture and land use policy. Over the past decade, he has built a reputation for authoritative analysis on the factors shaping the rural economy and property markets.

Mark England, chief executive at BNP Paribas Real Estate UK, said: “Rebecca has consistently demonstrated exceptional expertise, commercial insight and leadership throughout her time with the business. She has become a trusted adviser to both clients and colleagues, particularly across the alternative sectors market.

“Her appointment reflects the strength of talent within our organisation, and I am confident she will continue to enhance the quality and impact of our commercial research offering which supports our advisory, professional services, and property management business lines.”

Gary Higgins, managing director at Strutt & Parker, said: “Jason is one of the most respected voices in the sector and has made an outstanding contribution to Strutt & Parker over many years. His deep understanding of policy and markets, combined with his ability to translate complex issues into practical insights for clients, makes him ideally placed to lead our residential and rural research function.”

Shafran said: “It is a privilege to take on this role at such an important time for the real estate sector. High-quality research and market intelligence have never been more valuable to clients as they navigate changing economic conditions, evolving occupier demands and new investment opportunities. I look forward to working with colleagues across the business to continue delivering market-leading insight and supporting our clients’ decision-making.”

Beedell said: “Research has an increasingly important role to play in helping clients understand the challenges and opportunities shaping the residential and rural property markets. I am delighted to be taking on this position and continuing to provide trusted analysis and thought leadership for our clients and the wider industry.”
