Construction management from the ground up
SymTerra is a construction site management software firm that provides a simple, instant and integrated method for the entire supply chain of any project to communicate, collaborate and capture vital information at the point of work.
The firm was co-founded in March 2021 by Sarah Crawley and John Ryan, with 20+ years of construction site management and engineering experience for both high-spec specialist projects and mega infrastructure projects.
What is the problem SymTerra is trying to solve?
SymTerra is aimed at eliminating uncertainty and risk from construction sites. In a sector still reliant on analogue methods of communication and data capture, operating in a fast-evolving legislative landscape, the need for better and more efficient collaboration and data assurance has never been more critical.
- Poor communication causes uncertainty and delays
- Inefficiencies in endless reporting impact the teams on the ground
- Getting the right technology in the hands of those doing the work
- Inaccuracies in historical records put the ‘golden thread’ at risk
Who is SymTerra designed for?
- For any project of any size and in any sector. The first app to enable contractors across the project’s supply chain to communicate, while still retaining control of their data
- For workers on site– designed for simplicity and speed with voice dictation supporting the teams from the ground
- For companies to have greater commercial defensibility and accurate record-keeping in order to navigate changing times
In July 2022, SymTerra closed a $1.7m seed funding round with investment from leading investors Nemetschek, Pi Labs, SamaiPata and Accel, allowing the contech startup to grow the team and develop the platform to launch its Freemium model, which followed in September 2022.
Today, SymTerra is used by over 125 companies from across the construction and infrastructure sector, with over 500 active users working across 150 UK-wide projects. SymTerra’s client portfolio includes Thames Water, MTREL, Cambridge University, Kier, Balfour Beatty and Transport for London.
