The LK Group appoints new Regional Director

by Simon Foulds

The LK Group, a UK ground investigation and environmental consultancy, has expanded its operations in the South West with the appointment of Simon Leat as Regional Director.

The appointment follows The LK Group’s recent success in securing a £4 million framework with Dorset Council, under which the firm is delivering site investigation and materials testing services. The expansion reflects growing demand for digital construction, geotechnical engineering, and environmental consultancy expertise in supporting infrastructure and development projects across the South West.

In his new role, Leat will lead the continued development of the business across the region, with a focus on client engagement, regional delivery management, and technical leadership. His remit includes strengthening The LK Group’s ground investigation and environmental consultancy capabilities, while contributing to the firm’s national strategy for integrated digital delivery in the construction and infrastructure sectors.

Leat brings more than 36 years of experience in ground engineering and environmental services, spanning geotechnical design, site remediation, contamination assessment, and project management. His early career began at the Property Services Agency, where he worked on projects such as the Windsor Castle Round Tower Stabilisation Project, before taking on senior technical roles at Soil Mechanics.

Conor Leyden, Managing Director of The LK Group, commented: “Simon’s appointment strengthens our regional presence and reinforces our commitment to providing value-driven, high-quality services for clients across the South West. His deep technical expertise and leadership experience will play a vital role in delivering sustainable and innovative ground engineering solutions.”

Leat added: “I’m pleased to join The LK Group as it continues to build its reputation in the South West. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the company’s regional growth and support the delivery of essential infrastructure and development projects.”
