The entries are now in for Build in Digital’s Top 25 Contech Partners competition.

Launched at UK Construction Week in October, the Top 25 Contech Partners aims to offer an extensive account of the very best construction technology or ‘contech’ companies operating in the built environment.

All the entries are now sitting with our expert judging panel, who will rank each contech firm according the three core criteria areas of innovation, adoption and customer satisfaction.

Alongside our judging panel of construction technology experts, we will give the industry the chance to cast their vote.

Who do you think is the best contech firm in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry? Have your say by voting for your preferred construction technology partner.

Why construction technology?

The construction sector is one of the largest sectors in the world. Construction accounts for 13% of global spend, employs over 100 million people and consumes around 40% of all raw extracted materials. In other words, what happens in construction matters to us all.

However, the sector has traditionally lagged behind other industries in terms of productivity and its adoption of digital technologies.

The digital transformation of the construction industry is in full swing.

Only 7.7% of construction enterprises score ‘high’ or ‘very high’ on the Digital Intensity Index and, according to McKinsey, global labour-productivity growth in construction has averaged only 1% a year over the past two decades, compared with 2.8% for the total world economy and 3.6% in manufacturing.

Yet, despite a somewhat sluggish start, the digital transformation of the industry is in full swing. According to a 2021 NBS survey, 73% of UK firms were aware of and currently using BIM, when compared to just 48% in 2015, and over a third already use immersive tech such as VR/AR.

The survey also revealed that over 75% of the industry now use cloud computing, compared with 42% in 2020.

These digital technologies are breaking construction’s productivity curse, helping architects, engineers and contractors deliver safer, more sustainable projects on time and on budget.

Builders that use digital construction technologies report improved communication and regulatory compliance, safer operations, higher accuracy (less rework) and shorter project completion time.

But who are the solution-providers offering the best construction technologies and tools?

Top 25 Contech Partners

The digital transformation of construction is accelerating quickly, with new companies, innovations and approaches entering the fray each and every day.

From digital construction technologies like Building Information Modelling (BIM) and 3D printing to robotics and digital twins, construction technologies are becoming an indispensable part of the way structures are designed, built and operated.

However, while the construction technology industry is booming, it’s not always clear who the best supply chain partners are.

The Top 25 Contech Partners looks to change this by offering an independent, impartial account of the best performing contech firms, and giving these companies the chance to assume their position as digital construction frontrunners.

Only the very best companies make the pick – those firms that are delivering the most innovative construction technology products and services to their construction and property clients.
