Technology firm UK Connect has appointed Ross Spence as its head of technical operations, tasked with leading the company’s field services, network operations, and service delivery teams.

UK Connect was established as a startup almost 14 years ago and has since grown to become a leading provider of advanced connectivity solutions to the construction and defence industries.

Its technology underpins national infrastructure and is used by some of the biggest organisations in the country, including Vistry Group, Taylor Wimpey, Cala Homes, and the Ministry of Defence.

In his new role, Spence will be responsible for working closely with UK Connect’s customer base to design, deploy and maintain their connectivity, IoT networks, and managed IT solutions.

Spence said: “I’m excited to take on this new role and continue my journey with UK Connect. I’m lucky enough to work with an extremely talented team and am proud of what we’ve achieved to this point but also believe there is much more to come. Over the past three years, I’ve gained a deep understanding of our customers’ wants and needs. I look forward to continuing this collaboration to support them and UK Connect going forward.”

Having first joined UK Connect as a pre-sales network engineer in 2023, Spence spent 12-months offering technical support to the commercial team before being promoted to solutions manager, where he was responsible for the team designing and deploying custom networks from concept to implementation.

Joe Budnar-Hunt, chief executive at UK Connect, said: “Ross’ promotion reflects the support, collaboration and shared ambition that define our culture.

“His knowledge of our products and customer-base is invaluable and it’s great to see how far he has progressed during his time with the business. I’m excited to work with him and the rest of the team to continue building on recent momentum, take on new challenges and help drive the next phase of UK Connect’s growth.”
