Vartan Vartanian has joined Mott MacDonald’s advisory and programme delivery business as director for data centre projects.
In the newly created role based out of the company’s Madrid office, Vartanian will build on Mott MacDonald’s established data centre capabilities in the UK and Europe, supporting clients and internal teams across technical leadership, design, delivery and programme execution.
Vartanian has over 21 years of international experience, spanning critical and digital infrastructure, secure telecommunications, information and communications technology solutions, extra low voltage system solutions and defence-related environments.
He possesses deep expertise in data centres, having delivered programmes across key lifecycle stages, including due diligence, planning, design, construction delivery, systems integration/commissioning and operational readiness.
Having worked with hyperscale-end clients as well as major general contractors and system integrators, he brings a strong end-to-end perspective on how complex data centre programmes are planned, designed, procured, delivered and operated in different markets and delivery environments.
Vartanian said: “I’m excited to be joining Mott MacDonald at such an important time for the data centre sector. The region is seeing strong growth in digital infrastructure, and I look forward to working closely with our teams and clients through a collaborative approach, applying technical leadership, practical delivery expertise and programme delivery excellence in support of high-quality outcomes for our clients.”
Kerry Hancock, managing director of advisory and programme delivery at Mott MacDonald, added: “We are focused on bringing the very best people, expertise and capabilities into our business to help deliver on behalf of clients.
“The data centre industry is fast-evolving and I’m delighted that Vartan has joined. His sector expertise and insights are crucial to Mott MacDonald’s commitment to our data centre clients and growth ambitions in this hugely important market.”
