Stockport-based architectural practice Bowker Sadler has appointed Alison Duxbury as director, almost a decade after she first joined the firm.
Duxbury brings more than 25 years’ experience to the role, returning after seven years as a director at Triangle Architects, where she oversaw housing, education, healthcare, regeneration and masterplanning projects.
She joins fellow directors Paul Jeffrey, Colin Leith and Dan Labella, and founding partner Alan Sadler, on the practice’s senior leadership team.
Among Duxbury’s notable projects are the UK’s first purpose-built, majority LGBTQ+ Extra Care Housing scheme for Great Places Housing Group, and the Hattersley Central regeneration project in Tameside.
In her new role, she will work with the team to strengthen client relationships, support project delivery and explore new opportunities for growth.
Duxbury said: “It’s great to be back at Bowker Sadler at such an exciting time. There’s a real sense of momentum across the practice, with a fantastic team, a diverse range of projects and some great opportunities ahead.
“Having spent the last seven years broadening my experience across a range of sectors and projects, I’m looking forward to bringing that knowledge back to a practice I know well. It feels like a real full-circle moment, and I’m excited to be part of the studio’s next chapter.”
Paul Jeffrey, director at Bowker Sadler, said: “We’re extremely pleased to welcome Alison back. She knows the practice well, understands what makes it special and brings a wealth of experience that will be a real asset to the team.
“Her return comes at a great time for Bowker Sadler. We have a strong pipeline of projects, an ambitious team and a real appetite to keep developing what we do. Alison’s experience and enthusiasm will be invaluable as we continue to grow.”
The appointment comes as Bowker Sadler progresses a number of major developments across the region – including new school projects with Galliford Try and Conlon Construction, 192 affordable homes at Droylsden Marina, 83 homes at Coalbrook Court in East Manchester, and the Houghton Green Estate Regeneration project in Tameside for Irwell Valley – alongside commercial work for Cats Protection and the University of Manchester.
