In a significant step towards advancing Dubai’s smart city ambitions and sustainable infrastructure goals, Dubai Municipality has expanded its association with Moro Hub, a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, the digital arm of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).
A high-level delegation, led by His Excellency Marwan Bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, was welcomed at Moro Hub’s headquarters by His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA. The strategic meeting focused on enhancing synergies between the two entities to drive digital transformation, improve public services, and reinforce Dubai’s global standing as a hub for sustainability and innovation.
Advancing Dubai’s digital and environmental leadership
During the discussions, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer emphasised the alignment of both organisations with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. This shared vision places sustainability, smart infrastructure, and digital excellence at the core of Dubai’s development roadmap.
“Our partnership reflects Dubai’s unwavering commitment to building a smart, secure, and sustainable city, powered by cutting-edge technology,” said Al Tayer. “At Digital DEWA, we are laying the foundations of a resilient green economy through integrated digital platforms that enhance operational agility and drive environmental responsibility.”
Showcasing Moro Hub’s role in Dubai’s digital ecosystem
The visit included an exclusive tour of Moro Hub’s state-of-the-art facilities, offering Dubai Municipality leaders a first-hand look at the company’s advanced infrastructure. The delegation explored the Network Operations Centre (NOC), Security Operations Centre (SOC), Smart Cities and IoT Command Centre, and the regionally significant Green Data Centre.
In recognition of Dubai Municipality’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer presented the Moro Hub Green Certificate to HE Eng. Marwan Bin Ghalita. This certification confirmed that by hosting IT workloads at Moro Hub’s Green Data Centre, Dubai Municipality will achieve considerable reductions in carbon emissions, contributing to both the UAE Net Zero by 2050 Strategy and the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050.
Strategic collaboration for a smarter, greener future
Speaking on the importance of the partnership, HE Marwan Bin Ghalita stated, “As Dubai continues to evolve into one of the most technologically advanced and sustainable cities globally, collaborating with strategic partners like Moro Hub is vital. Their digital capabilities directly support our smart city projects, enhance urban resilience, and improve service delivery to our residents.”
The tour reinforced Moro Hub’s strategic role in enabling Dubai’s public and private sector entities to leverage next-generation technologies, contributing to urban sustainability, data security, and digital innovation.
Moro Hub, a cornerstone of Digital DEWA, is a digital partner for government and enterprise organisations across the UAE. Moro Hub’s facilities, such as its Green Data Centre, are designed to support national objectives for building a knowledge-driven, innovation-led, and sustainable economy, making it a key player in the UAE’s digital transformation landscape.
