Get ready, construction pioneers – the Building Innovation Awards are back, and this year’s celebration promises to dazzle, delight and maybe even raise the roof (sustainably, of course).
Mark your calendars: 30th September 2025 is the date, and Birmingham’s National Conference Centre & Motorbike Museum is the place. Yes, you read that right – innovation meets horsepower in what’s shaping up to be the built environment’s most unmissable night of the year.
And if that wasn’t exciting enough, 2025 sees the Building Innovation Awards join forces with UK Construction Week (running 30th September–2nd October at the NEC). It’s the ultimate industry double act – one full of ideas, insights, and impact; the other full of sparkle, celebration, and a touch of cheeky glamour.
An Evening to Celebrate the Industry’s Trailblazers
The night kicks off at 18:30 with a sparkling drinks reception – because who says hard hats and high-vis can’t be swapped for tuxedos and tiaras?
Guests will then sit down to a three-course dinner with wine before the main event: the awards ceremony recognising the brightest sparks in construction and property innovation.
From digital disruptors and offsite trailblazers to materials masterminds and sustainability savants, the awards shine a spotlight on the people and projects rewriting the rulebook of the built environment.
And this year, comedian and host Dominic Holland will be steering the ship. With a razor-sharp wit and more TV credits than you can shake a trowel at – including Have I Got News For You and The Royal Variety Performance – Dominic is a seasoned pro who knows how to keep a room roaring.
(Oh, and fun fact: he’s also Spider-Man’s dad. That’s right – Tom Holland may swing from skyscrapers on screen, but it’s Dominic who’s been building a comedy legacy behind the scenes.)
What’s on the Agenda?
Here’s how the evening shapes up (subject to a little flexibility – this is construction, after all):
18:30 – Drinks Reception
19:15 – Host Welcome
19:20 – Awards Presentations (Part 1)
19:45 – Dinner
21:30 – Guest Speaker
22:00 – Awards Presentations (Part 2)
23:00 – Charity Prize Draw
23:30 – After-show Entertainment
02:00 – Carriages (or perhaps an Uber, depending on how long you stay on the dance floor)
Dress to Impress
This is your night to shine, so whether you’re rocking black tie, evening dress, or cultural attire, bring your best self. You innovate by day – now it’s time to celebrate by night.
After-show Anthems: Kickstart the Party
Once the trophies have been lifted and the speeches made, it’s time to hit the dancefloor. Taking us through to the early hours are Kickstart – a high-energy, genre-jumping band known for bringing wedding-level joy to every occasion.
Expect hits from The Beatles to Bruno Mars, via Chuck Berry, George Ezra and everything in between. With their powerhouse vocals, big harmonies, and dancefloor-filling setlist, they’re the perfect party starters (and enders).
A Big Night Out, for a Big Leap Forward
The Building Innovation Awards aren’t just a glitzy night out (though it is very glitzy) – they serve a higher purpose: to celebrate the people, projects and technologies transforming the built environment for the better.
Because while construction might have a reputation for playing it safe, these finalists are proving – time and again – that bold ideas, digital disruption, and fearless experimentation are the new normal.
So come toast to transformation, rub shoulders with the industry’s elite, and be part of an evening that champions not just what’s new, but what’s next.
Lastly – but certainly not leastly – thanks go to the event’s sponsors, for their generous support of the Building Innovation Awards: The Access Group, Cupix, EGNYTE, The HSS ProService Marketplace, The Nemetschek Group, and UK Construction Week.
Now, over to the finalists…
Mark the date: the Building Innovation Awards take place on 30 September at Birmingham’s National Conference Centre & Motorbike Museum (across the road from the NEC).
