On Wednesday 1 October 2025, Build in Digital will host the Digital Construction Stage at UK Construction Week in Birmingham, bringing together leading voices, pioneering technologies, and practical strategies that are shaping the future of the built environment.
Over the course of the day, the Digital Construction Stage will spotlight digital transformation in construction, with sessions exploring the impact of artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, robotics, digital twins, and data-driven processes. Delegates will gain insights into how the sector is accelerating towards smarter, safer, and more sustainable project delivery.
Why digital construction matters now
The construction industry is undergoing a once-in-a-generation shift. With government legislation, client expectations, and market pressures converging, the adoption of digital construction technologies is no longer optional. From ISO 19650-compliant information management and AI-powered project planning to generative design and simulation-driven construction control, digital innovation is redefining how projects are procured, designed, built, and maintained.
At UK Construction Week 2025, the Digital Construction Stage provides a forum for professionals to learn directly from industry leaders, hear case studies, and discover how emerging tools are being implemented at scale to improve safety, productivity, sustainability, and project certainty.

- From Legacy to Leadership: McLaughlin & Harvey’s Digital Transformation Blueprint (10:30 – 11:15)
McLaughlin & Harvey has successfully transitioned from traditional project delivery to a digital-first construction model. With ISO 19650 as the foundation, their in-house Digital Construction Team has unified fragmented processes and standardised information management. Using platforms such as Egnyte, Solibri, and Morta, the company has streamlined design, collaboration, and asset delivery across more than 40 live projects.
Glenn McCaffrey, Digital Construction Director at McLaughlin & Harvey, and Satyam Verma, AEC Practice Leader at Egnyte, will share how a people-led strategy—rather than a technology-first approach—has driven cultural change, improved safety and productivity, and strengthened project certainty.
- From Sandbox to Site: Simulation-Driven Construction Control (11:30 – 12:15)
Jonas Wolpold, CEO of BII GmbH, will demonstrate how construction process twins are changing the way projects are delivered. By creating early-stage sandbox simulations, project teams can predict delays, reduce waste, and optimise site-wide control from groundbreaking to handover.
- Meeting Government Housing Targets Without Compromising Quality (12:30 – 13:15)
With UK government housing targets accelerating, housebuilders face mounting pressure to deliver more homes without sacrificing quality. Robert Norton, UK Director at PlanRadar, will outline how digital construction tools for housebuilders can streamline project management, ensure compliance with regulations such as the Future Homes Standard and the Building Safety Act, and reduce defects through smarter quality assurance.
- Driving Specification to Standardisation: GS1 Standards and NBS Tools (13:30 – 14:15)
This session will explore the integration of GS1 global product identifiers within NBS tools, a step that is revolutionising structured product data in construction. With enhanced accuracy, interoperability, and traceability across the supply chain, GS1 standards are paving the way for a more connected and circular built environment.
- Building Smarter: Why Data is the Ultimate AI Enabler in Construction (14:30 – 15:00)
This panel, chaired by Alex Hall of The Access Group, will address the data management challenges in construction that must be overcome before AI can deliver meaningful outcomes. Panellists from Ascia Construction, Emberon, and Taylor Wimpey will share their experiences of implementing AI in construction project management, procurement, and IT.
- Women in BIM Panel: Harnessing Generative AI in Construction (15:30 – 16:15)
In this forward-looking discussion, Women in BIM will showcase how Generative AI in construction is unlocking new efficiencies across design, project planning, and operations. Chaired by Mairead Gallager-Morgan, the panel also includes Lilian Ho, Hadeel Saadoon and Emma Rees; experts from Grimshaw Architects, Aecom, Turner & Townsend, and Wates, who will share practical insights and lessons learned in leveraging GenAI for digital construction innovation.
- Networking with Women in BIM (16:15 – 17:00)
The day will close with an open forum and networking session hosted by Women in BIM, providing attendees the chance to connect with experts, peers, and digital pioneers.
Looking Ahead: Digital Transformation as the Industry Standard
