BSRIA has launched a new digital directory designed to simplify access to building services industry guidance.
BSRIA has launched the BSRIA Guide of Guides, a centralised online directory that consolidates guidance from across the building services sector. The platform provides building services engineers, consultants and digital construction professionals with a structured way to navigate a fragmented landscape of technical publications and industry guidance.
The Guide of Guides brings together material from industry associations, technical bodies and publishers into a curated, searchable platform. By organising guidance resources in one place, the directory aims to reduce time spent searching for relevant documentation while supporting informed decision-making across the built environment sector.
Structured access to technical guidance and industry standards
The digital directory is designed to improve access to building services knowledge by using expert indexing and categorisation. Publications are organised according to industry themes, building services disciplines and project lifecycle stages, helping professionals quickly identify relevant guidance for design, construction and operation.
This approach supports knowledge sharing across the sector and helps align professionals with recognised best practice standards. It also enables users to explore related guidance topics, strengthening understanding across interconnected building services systems.
Addressing challenges in digital search and information reliability
According to Kim Burgess, Director of Professional Services at BSRIA, the new platform responds to increasing complexity in digital information discovery.
“As guidance continuously evolves and AI driven search and SEO make sourcing information online more convoluted, the risk of relying on outdated, inaccurate or incomplete advice also increases. This platform, shaped by valued member feedback, makes it faster and easier to find accurate guidance when it’s needed.”
Burgess added: “This is an exciting industry first which will support building services professionals in ensuring that best practice becomes standard practice. It demonstrates that, as ever, BSRIA is committed to finding practical ways to benefit the industry, our building stock, and ultimately those that will use the spaces we create.”
Currently, the directory is available to BSRIA members and full-time students enrolled on building-services-related university courses, with further access and features expected as the platform evolves.
The BSRIA Guide of Guides introduces a centralised digital resource that supports reliable guidance discovery, improved knowledge sharing, and stronger alignment with best practice across the building services sector.
