Build in Digital launches new series of online events

Build in Digital has launched a new series of online events in a bid to deliver expert analysis and discussion on digital construction topics.

The six bi-monthly ‘micro-conferences’ will be held remotely and cover timely issues such as digital skills, the Building Safety Act, information management, offsite construction, and more.

A micro-conference is a small scale conference that allows professionals to present and discuss their work. They provide a channel for the exchange of nascent ideas and an opportunity for collaboration.

The events are hosted online and delivered within a 2 hour window to minimise the impact on your working day, while giving attendees an incisive conference session and the opportunity to network and workshop with speakers and other attendees in the breakout rooms.

In the first of the new events we will take a look at three very different but equally challenging smart projects and hear from the masterminds who built them.

These projects are:

  • BAFTA 195 Piccadilly by Benedetti Architects
  • Transpennine Route Upgrade by West Alliance
  • The Forge by Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd and Mace

All events will be free to attend for architecture, engineering and construction professionals, as well as Build in Digital stakeholders.

They will also provide attendees with the opportunity to network with other industry professionals.

Commenting on the relaunch, Build in Digital publisher, Joe Broun, said: “The online events were created during lockdown to maintain quality networking for our members wishing to safely collaborate with their opposite numbers from across the UK.

“And while we are relieved to be ‘back to business as usual’, we have rightly embraced the virtues of remote working.

“While the new-look micro-conferences will continue to provide our members with a proven platform for industry networking, with many of the same popular elements such as the break-out rooms for instance, our focus will extend to delivering a more comprehensive yet incisive conference programme.

“And with each online event keeping to a two-hour time frame, there is no need to block out a whole working day.”

Editor at Build in Digital, Siôn Geschwindt, added: “It’s great to launch this new set of online events that provide a platform to learn and discuss timely and practical topics from the cutting-edge of the construction industry.

“Each of the six micro-conferences have been designed to maximise insight and value for attendees – and, as they’re free, there’s really no reason to not attend if you are a building professional.”
