Cala Group to plug in 5G across all its sites

by Sion Geschwindt
The consortium will develop a ‘plug-and-go’ solution that can be tailored to the needs of a site and deliver full 5G coverage from the outset.

Housebuilder Cala Group has chosen UK Connect to install 5G and IT connectivity at all Cala Homes and Legal & General Homes construction sites.

UK Connect began working with Cala Group on the installation of rapid cellular broadband connectivity at the Group’s site offices and sales suites. Before 2018, Cala relied on traditional wired infrastructure and connectivity, such as copper and fibre broadband, on its construction sites.

Unlike traditional wired infrastructure, UK Connect says its Cellular Broadband can be installed in just a few days enabling house building teams to have full connectivity and fast communication from day one.

As part of the new 5G deal, UK Connect will provide Cala with a range of managed IT solutions.

Matt Cavanagh, IT director at Cala Group, said: “We are embracing change by digitising our site processes and customer experience.

“We want to enable our teams to work flexibly with the best-in-class tools to help us connect, collaborate and communicate more easily, wherever we are.

“By employing the best systems, Cala is ensuring we continue to give our team and our customers a great experience.

“All of this must be underpinned by reliable, day-one connectivity, so we are delighted to continue to work with UK Connect.”

PJ Farr, MD at UK Connect, added: “As a long-standing customer, we have built a trusted relationship with Cala’s central IT operations and regional businesses.

“Our unrivalled technology solutions, combined with our national network engineering teams, means we are in a fantastic position to support Cala’s sites across the UK.”
