Asset management firm DWS has acquired a 100% stake in a German onshore wind farm on behalf of one of its European infrastructure investment strategies.

The Ostbevern wind farm, located in North Rhine-Westphalia, is equipped with three turbines, two of which have been in operation since February 2024, with the third commissioned in December 2024, giving the onshore wind farm a total capacity of 12.6 megawatt-peak (MWp).

Ostbevern is connected to the local regional grid via a public substation and supplies private households as well as commercial customers.

DWS is acquiring the Ostbevern wind farm from integrated energy supplier GP JOULE, which will continue to manage the wind farm to ensure optimal operation as project developer.

Peter Brodehser, partner investments infrastructure at DWS, said: “This latest investment into the Ostbevern wind farm sees DWS continue to contribute to the transformation of Europe’s economies. We are pleased to take this step together with our business partner GP JOULE.

“The wind farm benefits from a favourable location with good wind speeds and a long-term secured grid connection. With two existing onshore wind farm investments, a solar park in Germany and a solar portfolio in Spain, we are offering our investors an attractive opportunity to invest in future-oriented infrastructure and renewable energy projects in Europe.”

This is the latest acquisition for DWS’s European infrastructure investment strategy, which allows German retail and institutional investors to invest directly into infrastructure projects. The transaction further contributes to DWS’s commitment to backing energy transition across Europe, under its commitment to facilitate European Transformation.
