Rainy Day Trust to partner Building Innovation Awards

The Building Innovation Awards 2025

Rainy Day Trust has been named charity partner for the Building Innovation Awards 2026, held in Birmingham on 29 September.

The black-tie evening, which celebrates innovation and excellence across the construction and building industry, takes place at the National Conference Centre & Motorbike Museum alongside UK Construction Week. It will raise funds for the charity through an on-the-night raffle and direct donations, supporting its work with people across the sector who are struggling.

Rainy Day Trust has supported people in the industry for more than 180 years – through money worries, family crises, health emergencies and the moments nobody sees coming. It is now working to reach people sooner, before they hit crisis point, through a growing national network of trained employee ambassadors: colleagues across the industry supported to recognise the signs that someone may be struggling and help point them towards the right support.

The charity says the need is significant. Suicide is the leading cause of death for men under 50 in the UK and, within construction and home improvement, that risk triples – with the industry losing two people to suicide every working day, on average.

Anna Skeats, chief executive of Rainy Day Trust, said: “We’re proud to be part of an evening that celebrates so much of what makes this industry brilliant. But behind the innovation and the awards are real people and far too many of them are quietly struggling. Being named charity partner for the Building Innovation Awards means we get to stand in front of this industry and say we see you, we hear you and we are here for you and together we can make sure fewer people face the hardest moments alone.”

Guests at the Building Innovation Awards will be able to support Rainy Day Trust on the night through table collections, a charity raffle and a QR code donation link, with proceeds going directly towards its work supporting people across the industry.

Rainy Day Trust supports people who work in the home improvement, construction and building materials sectors. Alongside crisis support – including financial grants, debt advice and mental health support – it is developing its network of trained ambassadors to help reach people sooner.
