Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) has appointed Alex Harris as its first head of artificial intelligence (AI) for the UK and Europe.
The role forms part of the construction and property management consultant’s growth strategy, with RLB describing the appointment as a milestone in its digital, data and AI development.

Harris joins RLB with experience building and scaling AI capabilities across large, complex organisations. He most recently led AI strategy and innovation at Volkswagen Financial Services UK, where he set up the company’s AI function, governance model and enterprise-wide adoption programme.
He previously held innovation leadership roles at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and the BMW Group, where he worked on large-scale technology and process transformation initiatives.
Matt Sharp, RLB’s chief digital officer, said: “The creation of our first head of AI role is part of RLB’s growth strategy and acknowledging that AI is a core business capability across the built environment.
“RLB takes a people-led approach to AI, which means that we combine technology with human expertise and judgement. Alex’s appointment will allow us to realise further benefits of AI while continuing to bring accountability, trust and quality to our clients and colleagues internally.”
