Costain strengthens aviation portfolio through long-term Manchester Airports Group framework appointment at London Stansted.
Costain has been appointed to the Capital Investment Consultancy Services Framework by Manchester Airports Group (MAG), marking a significant development in digital construction consultancy for aviation infrastructure. The appointment will see Costain deliver strategic advisory and specialist consultancy services to support capital delivery projects at London Stansted Airport.
Under the framework, Costain will provide expertise across quantity surveying, project management, and health and safety, core components of digital construction project delivery and infrastructure lifecycle management. The agreement spans an initial five-year term, with an option to extend for an additional three years, aligning with long-term capital investment planning in the UK aviation sector.
Enhancing project delivery through collaborative frameworks
Working alongside other suppliers, Costain will apply its experience in aviation infrastructure and digital construction methodologies to deliver predictable outcomes across complex, live operational environments. This collaborative framework model supports integrated project delivery, enabling improved efficiency, cost control, and risk mitigation across MAG’s capital investment programme.
Ann-marie Morrison, Sector Director, Integrated Transport at Costain, said: “Costain is a trusted infrastructure partner to the aviation sector with a strong track record of advising and delivering complex projects in live operational working environments.
“We have a long history of working with MAG and this framework will allow us to deepen our relationship. We are looking forward to working on a range of capital delivery projects that will support and enhance the operational resilience of London Stansted and ensure it continues to serve as a driver of economic prosperity and growth.”
Driving infrastructure performance and passenger experience
Andrew Corston, Group Procurement Director at MAG, said: “The Capital Investment Consultancy Services Framework will provide critical support to the delivery of our Capital Investments Programme. We have been seeking partners with whom we can establish a collaborative, dynamic partnership that will help us deliver the pipeline of projects across the Group.
“Through our continued partnership with Costain and our other partners on the framework we look forward to enhancing our infrastructure to enhance the customer experience unlocking both growth and powering the regional and UK economies.”
Expanding digital construction footprint in aviation
This framework appointment reinforces Costain’s growing role in digital construction for aviation infrastructure. Recent work includes biodiversity studies at Manchester and East Midlands airports, alongside infrastructure delivery at Heathrow Terminal 2.
Costain’s appointment demonstrates the increasing role of digital construction consultancy in aviation, supporting structured investment programmes, operational resilience, and infrastructure performance across complex, regulated airport environments.
