Guy Levene, chief executive of UK tidal developer Spiralis Energy has joined the board of directors at industry networking body, Ocean Energy Europe (OEE).
Spiralis Energy is working to develop its first full-scale device and is currently working with partners to test a prototype of its Axial Skelter power-generating screws in the Alderney waters.
Made from recycled materials and said to be easy to maintain, Spiralis Energy’s tidal solution is described as simple and scalable, and will have a modular design.
Rémi Gruet, chief executive of Brussels-based OEE, said: “It is great to see new tidal players enter the market. We are happy to welcome Spiralis Energy to our membership and board of directors.
“Spiralis will bring a fresh perspective, and I look forward to working together with Guy and his team to bring tidal energy to full commercialisation.”
Levene added: “As a new developer in the tidal market, it is a pleasure for us to engage, at board level, with industry professionals and to assist in raising awareness of the tremendous potential in this sector.
“We look forward to the OEE making a significant impact as the continent moves towards net zero and beyond.”
