BSRIA appoints Chief Technology Officer

by Simon Foulds

BSRIA has taken a major step forward in its digital-first strategy with the appointment of Paul Greatbatch as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). The move underscores the organisation’s commitment to driving digital innovation in the built environment.

Greatbatch’s appointment marks a pivotal moment in BSRIA’s transformation from analogue to digital operations, a shift designed to enhance its market insight capabilities, digitise its products and services, and integrate AI-enabled technologies across the business. His leadership will help position BSRIA at the forefront of digital construction, supporting the industry’s growing demand for smarter, data-driven solutions.

Under his direction, BSRIA will expand its digital market intelligence offering, creating new tools and platforms that empower building services professionals, manufacturers, and construction leaders to make more informed decisions. The company’s enhanced Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) and AI-powered analytics will provide deeper insight into emerging market trends, technology adoption, and performance benchmarking.

Transformation

This transformation will also extend to BSRIA’s training and skills development programmes, ensuring engineers and technicians gain access to high-quality, digitally delivered learning resources. These improvements arrive at a crucial time, with the UK construction industry currently facing more than 140,000 unfilled roles and an urgent need for digital upskilling.

Commenting on the appointment, Lisa Ashworth, CEO of BSRIA, said: “Paul’s expertise will be instrumental as we accelerate our tech transformation and drive growth across existing and new markets. We’re ensuring those in the building services sector can make better decisions to cope with a rapidly changing world.”

Paul Greatbatch added: “What attracted me to BSRIA is the opportunity to make a real impact and shape its product suite. It’s about making it easier for people to design, build and maintain better buildings.”

The appointment follows other strategic developments, including Lisa Wiltshire’s appointment as Head of Market Intelligence and the launch of BSRIA’s new Beijing office, reinforcing the organisation’s expanding global presence and digital-first vision for the future of building performance and construction innovation.
